The Raiders signed offensive tackle Trent Brown away from the Patriots in 2019. Now, he’s headed back to New England.
The Patriots are expected to trade for the Pro Bowler, according to the NFL Network, just two years after he won a Super Bowl with Bill Belichick and company. In exchange for Brown, New England will send the Raiders a fifth-round pick in 2022. Las Vegas will also send a seventh-round pick to the Patriots.
After signing a four-year, $66 million deal with the Raiders, Brown went to the Pro Bowl in the 2019 season. In 2020, however, he only played in five games, spending time on the COVID-19/reserve list and being hospitalized at another point before a game due to a medical mishap.
The Raiders will save $14 million in cap space by trading Brown. He also agreed to a reworked deal as part of the trade, and is now under contract for just one more year at $11 million. He originally had two years left on his deal.
