Lindsey Boylan wants ‘bystander training’ after anti-Asian attack in NYC

Manhattan Borough President candidate Lindsey Boylan on Tuesday called on New Yorkers to be trained in how to prevent harassment following yet another anti-Asian attack in the city.

The progressive Democrat said she wants Big Apple residents to receive “bystander intervention” training in the wake of Monday’s hateful assault on a 65-year-old woman in Midtown.

Surveillance video captured the victim, who was walking to her church, get brutally beat as a security guard in a nearby building appeared to watch and do nothing to help.

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday called the attack “absolutely disgusting” and urged residents not to just “stand around” watching such assaults.

Boylan — a former aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo was the first woman to publicly come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against him — asked New Yorkers to join her in signing up for free workshops hosted by organizations Hollaback! and Asian Americans Advancing Justice.

“The same instinct that causes us to turn away from Asian Americans is the same instinct that causes us to turn away from our other BIPOC siblings, our LGBTQ+ siblings, and women who experience sexual harassment and violence,” she said in a statement.
