Biden Tours Hardware Store to Promote Small Business Loans
On Tuesday, President Biden toured a hardware store in Washington to encourage small business loans to promote his administration’s efforts to help the economy.
“This is our main showroom in the store. You can see a lot of our employees up top, there.” “Hey everybody, how are you?” Employees: “Hi!” “Good to see you.” “We are D.C.’s oldest hardware store, continuously operating in this city since 1866.” “One of the reasons why we changed the rules for 20 days, make sure only employers who are 20 or fewer employees could qualify for P.P.E. And the reason for that was 400,000 small businesses went out of business. They couldn’t get the help. And we found out an awful lot of that went to bigger businesses that, in fact, weren’t supposed to qualify because — they used to be thing called the inspector general to see where the money went. And the last administration fired the inspector general. So a lot of the money went to people who should have gotten the help.”
